BIOGRAPHY
I am an actor and a writer living in Toronto. Most of my acting is done on the stage, as I am a founding member and principal performer with TEMPEST THEATRE GROUP.
I love performing and writing – especially for teens. We do a lot of school-targeted shows and I can tell you that teens are the best audiences possible because they are never neutral – they love something or they hate it and they are, in my experience, not shy about letting you know which it is. And if you can get them – truly get them – it is the BEST. THING. EVER... Wait – for you actual teens reading this bio? I don’t need to tell you any of this! You guys know exactly how much you rock.
As for me? I was captivated at a young age by stories of mythology and folk lore, past civilizations, and legendary heroes. I’m a Celtic Mythology geek, especially when it comes to stories of the Otherworld, Faeries and King Arthur.
I love horses. I wanted to be a jockey when I was a kid – to the point where I would fling myself onto the backs of the feral horses that grazed in the fields around our cottage... that never went well...
I love to travel.
I have training in several forms of swordplay and stage combat.
I am, of course, a voracious reader – I read walking down the street and in elevators. I don’t know if I would recommend this, exactly, but I haven’t been mashed flat by a bus. Yet.
I love music and movies and art. I paint and sketch when I have the time (less and less now, what with all of the stories that need telling).
I am an enthusiastic if somewhat disastrous gardener. Plants fear and love me.
I grew up collecting comic books. I believe the world needs superheroes – even if they are only in book and movie form. My favourite X-man is Wolverine. I have an embarrassing (some would say amusing) Hugh Jackman story, which I can be persuaded to tell with very little prompting – but only in person.
For almost three years, I hosted weekly sci-fi/ fantasy late-night movie-marathons on a nationally broadcast show called Spacebar: I played a character called the Waitron-9000, a sparkly holographic waitress with an encyclopaedic knowledge of obscure B-movie trivia.
I am an unrepentant egghead – a character-trait that somehow doesn’t interfere with a love of shoes and shiny things.
And I’m thrilled that YOU decided to stop by my site and find all of this stuff out!!
Cheers, Lesley
